His world premiere recordings of concertos by Cecil Forsyth and York Bowen (BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra/Martyn Brabbins) for Hyperion Records was widely praised and chosen by Gramophone magazine as one of the best hundred CDs of 2005. Other recordings include Brahms Viola Sonatas, the Walton and Rubbra Viola Concerti, which was nominated for a 2008 Gramophone Award, York Bowen’s complete works for viola and piano with Simon Crawford-Phillips (all for Hyperion), and Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante with Maxim Vengerov and the UBS Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra (EMI). Over the last two years he has recorded the complete viola works by Paul Hindemith for Hyperion. He recently completed this project with a recording of the 3 Viola Concerti with BBC SSO/Atherton. November 2010 will see the release of his recording of Bartok/Rozsa Viola Concerti with Andrew Litton and Bergen Philharmonic.

The 2011/12 season will see Lawrence Power become Artist in Residence with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, which will see him working with Edward Gardner, Andrew Litton and Francois Xavier Roth, as well as a series of concerts with Camerata Slazburg performing Penderecki’s Viola Concerto, conducted by the composer. Lawrence will also perform with the Bournemouth Symphony and CBSO as well as making his debut with Melbourne Symphony, Australia. He also continues his relationship with the London Philharmonic Orchestra performing Turnage's On Opened Ground in 2011 and a new commission by James Macmillan in 2013/14.

Lawrence Power plays a rare viola by the Bolognese maker Antonio Brensi from c.1610 and is fortunate to have had the support of the Nigel Brown instrument scheme in order to secure its purchase.
